Job summary

JLL is seeking an Automation Engineering Apprentice to learn, support and improve automated systems within a fulfillment or distribution environment. The program blends classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and on-the-job learning to build foundational PLC, VFD, sensor, and robotics skills.

Apprentices are paired with mentors for 12 weeks of technical instruction and 3500 hours of on-the-job learning, progressing from shadowing to supervised tasks while contributing to improvement projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Interest in automation, controls, or mechatronics.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Willingness to travel for training.
• Ability to read and interpret basic electrical or mechanical drawings.
• Commitment to learning and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Learn safety standards and apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Shadow and assist Automation Engineers in troubleshooting and repair of control systems.
• Support daily automation operations by responding to faults and documenting issues.
• Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance for material handling equipment and control panels.
• Develop PLC programming understanding under supervision.
