Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Minnesota is launching an Automation Engineering Apprentice program to learn to support, maintain and improve automated systems in a distribution center. The role pairs you with mentors for hands-on learning and 12 weeks of technical instruction, followed by 3500 hours of on‑the‑job training.

You will gain PLC, VFD, motor controls, sensors, networking, and robotics experience while working safely in a fast‑paced environment and progressing toward independent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Interest in automation, controls or mechatronics.
• Ability to read electrical or mechanical drawings.
• Willingness to travel for required training.
• Strong teamwork and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply safety standards (LOTO, PPE).
• Shadow and assist Automation Engineers in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing control systems.
• Support daily automation operations and root-cause analysis.
• Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance for material handling equipment and control panels.
• Work with schematics and software tools to identify and correct equipment issues.
• Learn to interpret and modify PLC programs under supervision.
• Assist in system performance tracking and data analysis.
• Develop technical communication with engineers, technicians and operations teams.
• Complete structured training through Amatrol Automation Fundamentals and related JLL modules.
