Job summary

CDM Smith in Houston seeks an Automation Engineer 1 to join our team on exciting, meaningful projects. Early career engineers will work with industry-leading professionals, learning instrumentation, controls, and HMI/PLC design in real-world settings.

You will perform basic design tasks under supervision, review simple drawings, and assist with testing and startup of instrumentation and related systems on diverse projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; 0 years experience. Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency contingent on duties.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, creates basic instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs.
• Reviews simple component level shop drawings.
• Creates basic human-machine interface (HMI) designs, programmable logic controllers (PLC), reports, etc.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Assists with testing and startup of instrumentation, controls and related systems.
