Job summary
Leoforce in Fridley, MN is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead design, development, programming, and implementation of custom automation solutions in a manufacturing environment. This hands-on role combines machine design, controls programming, robotics integration, and project leadership.
You'll design automation systems using SolidWorks, SkyCAD, PLCs (AB Studio 5000, RSLogix), and Mapware; lead projects from concept to startup; collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and customers;
Qualifications
- 5+ years designing automation equipment and systems.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial controls.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent cross-functional communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Design custom automation equipment, machine retrofits, robotic work cells and EO tooling.
- Create detailed drawings, assemblies and BOMs using SolidWorks.
- Design for manufacturability, reliability and performance.
- Support machine builds, testing and implementation.
- Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning.
- Coordinate resources with manufacturing, engineering and customers.
