Job summary

Advantage Technical in Hunt Valley, MD is seeking an Electrical Controls & Automation Technician to support, troubleshoot, and optimize production equipment in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

You will diagnose issues using schematics and PLC logic, modify HMI applications, assist with installations and upgrades, and collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality and Safety to improve reliability and reduce downtime.”

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical training, apprenticeship, military technical experience, or related industrial automation experience preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, and servo systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, Cognex Vision Systems, FANUC Robotics, and industrial networks is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, servo drives, and automation systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues using electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
• Support robotics, machine vision systems, industrial networks, and manufacturing automation equipment.
• Modify and maintain FactoryTalk View ME HMI applications and control systems.
• Assist with equipment installations, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Maintain accurate electrical documentation, drawings, and system backups.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Safety teams.
