Advantage Technical is hiring an Electrical Controls & Automation Technician to support and optimize production equipment in Hunt Valley, MD. You will troubleshoot PLCs/HMI, read schematics, and work across Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to ensure reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLCs, Cognex vision systems, and robotics, plus a focus on continuous improvement and safety adherence in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or equivalent preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs and servo systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLCs, Cognex Vision Systems and industrial networks is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, servo drives and automation systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues using electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
• Support robotics, machine vision systems, industrial networks, and automation equipment.
• Modify and maintain FactoryTalk View ME HMI applications and control systems.
• Assist with equipment installations, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to reduce downtime.
