Advantage Technical in Hunt Valley, MD is seeking an Electrical Controls & Automation Technician to support, troubleshoot, and optimize production equipment in a high-performance manufacturing environment. The role requires hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial automation, with strong diagnostics using schematics and PLC logic.

Demands collaboration across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Safety teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical training, apprenticeship, military technical experience, or related industrial automation experience preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, and servo systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk, Siemens PLCs, Cognex Vision Systems, FANUC Robotics and industrial communication networks is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, servo drives, and automation systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues using electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
• Support robotics, machine vision, networks, and manufacturing automation equipment.
• Modify and maintain FactoryTalk View ME HMI applications and control systems.
• Assist with installations, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement durable solutions to reduce downtime.
• Maintain electrical drawings and system backups.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Safety teams.
