Job summary
Advantage Technical seeks an Electrical Controls & Automation Technician to own troubleshooting and optimization of production automation in Hunt Valley, MD. You will work on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and robotics, partnering with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve reliability.
The role requires technical training or apprenticeship and hands-on experience reading schematics and PLC logic.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical training, apprenticeship, military technical experience, or related industrial automation experience preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, and servo systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk, Siemens PLCs, Cognex Vision Systems, FANUC Robotics, and industrial communication networks is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motor controls, VFDs, servo drives, and automation systems.
- Diagnose equipment issues using electrical schematics, control drawings, and PLC logic.
- Support robotics, machine vision systems, industrial networks, and manufacturing automation equipment.
- Modify and maintain FactoryTalk View ME HMI applications and control systems.
- Assist with equipment installations, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate electrical documentation, drawings, and system backups.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Safety teams.
