Job summary

OnTrac is seeking a Control Systems Specialist in South Brunswick, NJ. The role focuses on sustaining and improving automated parcel-handling controls, including PLCs and WCS, with heavy collaboration across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and OEM partners.

You will implement robust PLC logic, support commissioning, and ensure safety interlocks and documentation are up-to-date. Travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 4 years of experience in automation and controls for facilities, conveyor systems, automated material handling, or sortation equipment.
• Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell), HMIs, SCADA systems, and safety interlocks.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Keep automation running at peak reliability: troubleshoot, optimize PLC and WCS systems for conveyors and sortation equipment to improve uptime.
• Build and maintain robust PLC logic using Allen-Bradley/Rockwell to ensure reliable operation and fault recovery.
• Implement improvements with engineering and OEM partners to enhance throughput and system consistency.
• Support commissioning and integration: assist with controls validation and testing for new deployments and retrofits.
• Maintain accurate controls documentation: IO lists, schematics, network diagrams, and control panel layouts.
• Ensure frontline safety and operation: work with site technicians to resolve faults, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
