Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Global Workplace Solutions team.

You’ll support automated material handling equipment with PLC/PC control and SCADA systems, troubleshooting remotely or on-site to maximize reliability and performance. You will coordinate with operations and maintenance teams, drive improvements, and ensure safety standards across conveyors, sortation systems, cameras, and related controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
2+ years of experience with PLC programs.
2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.
Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, or holidays.
Ability to independently solve problems with limited supervision.
Meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and comply with codes and directives.
Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC).
Serve as first-level escalation for on-site and remote troubleshooting.
Inspect systems to ensure operation meets client design specs.
Oversee development scope, scheduling, and inspection of outside contractors.
Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to network.
Monitor networks like Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I.
Monitor MHE metrics and partner with site teams to resolve issues.
Communicate with leadership and maintenance teams on timelines and impacts.
Analyze failures for improvements and retraining opportunities.
