Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company – Coatings is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer to lead Industry 4.0 and automation initiatives, uniting strategic vision with hands-on execution. This role supports four global facilities, driving capital automation projects and continuous plant improvement with PLC, SCADA/Ignition, and electrical standards expertise.

The ideal candidate brings strong PLC programming, Ignition development, complex troubleshooting, and knowledge of electrical industry

Qualifications

• BSEE required.
• 3-5 years of experience as Automation and Controls Engineer in manufacturing environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with troubleshooting and programming on PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Emerson, Siemens).
• Experience with Ignition (tags, dashboards, historizing data, MES communication).
• Experience with IT/OT communication protocols and best practices.
• Strong project management and cross-functional leadership; ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Desirable: familiarity with UL/CE standards; experience with Vision System programming, Robot programming (Fanuc), and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an Automation/Industry 4.0 roadmap aligned with business goals.
• Standardize components and technologies across facilities.
• Create electrical control system specifications for new equipment.
• Oversee equipment modernization and FAT/SAT with vendors.
• Ensure OT networks are secure per cybersecurity policies.
• Drive PLC logic updates, optimize vision robotics, and Ignition visualizations.
• Lead end-to-end automation project execution including design, installation, commissioning, and validation.
