Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to execute design activities for EPC projects across food, consumer products, pharma, life sciences and industrial facilities. You will develop PLC/HMI, Batch and MES deliverables, lead FATs, and coordinate with internal teams and clients.

The role requires travel about 25% to job sites, with involvement in startup activities, field support and design validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related ABET-accredited program and FE exam, with 3+ years electrical engineering experience (EPC/Automation preferred).
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 2+ years experience (EPC preferred).
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques; strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI/IEEE.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead discipline design for large projects.

Responsibilities

• Execute automation and controls engineering design for EPC projects across multiple industries.
• Develop software design deliverables: PLC and HMI programming, Batch, MES, servers, and virtualization.
• Lead FATs, coordinate with offsite and onsite teams, and ensure quality reviews of submittals.
• Travel to job sites (~25%-30%), support installation, startup activities and client relationships.
