Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking an Automation/Controls Engineer to design, troubleshoot, and commission control systems for food and beverage facilities. You will work closely with process, packaging, and building engineers, performing on-site diagnostics and startup activities at client sites.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing PLC-based solutions, network infrastructure, and embedded controls, with substantial travel to client facilities during installation and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4–7 years of experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell.
• 4–7 years of Visual Basic, SQL, MS Access; database programming a plus.
• 4–7 years of experience designing and implementing process network infrastructure (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, ProfiBus).
• 4–7 years in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; client-facing role.
• Travel up to 50% of the year for installation/startup activities.

Responsibilities

• Designs and troubleshoots software and hardware for control systems using PLCs.
• Automates manufacturing processes with instrumentation and controls systems.
• Designs and troubleshoots network infrastructures (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ProfiBus, etc.).
• Develops PLC applications, interfaces, or embedded controls.
• Oversees setup and commissioning of new facilities or upgrades; coordinates with other disciplines.
• Specifies and procures control panel equipment and electrical gear.
• Interface with installation contractors during construction.
• Documents specifications and operating procedures.
