Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer to design and deliver automation solutions for EPC projects across food, consumer products, pharma, life sciences, aerospace and industrial facilities. You will work in front-end, detailed design, construction and start-up phases, traveling to job sites about 30% of the time.

The role requires a PE-licensed or FE-eligible engineer with a strong background in PLC/SCADA, instrumentation, and control systems, and experience with FATs and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related ABET program with FE exam and 3+ years electrical engineering experience.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering with EPC/Automation experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI and IEEE standards; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks to team members.
• Willingness to travel and work across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Execute automation and controls design activities for EPC projects across industries.
• Develop PLC and HMI programming deliverables and supervise FATs.
• Lead controls design deliverables and review P&IDs with process engineers.
• Coordinate with offsite design offices and field personnel during commissioning.
• Ensure quality reviews and adherence to safety policies.
• Develop engineering hour estimates and proposals as needed.
