Job summary
Caterpillar is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer in East Peoria, IL to focus on automation, then grow knowledge of heat treat processes and system operation. You will troubleshoot on the manufacturing floor, develop PLCs and HMIs, and support upgrades and reliability improvements.
The role includes training and mentoring, and offers a rotating AWS night schedule with weekends and holidays. Relocation assistance is available.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or Industrial Electronics.
- Experience or training in industrial automation and controls is desired.
- Ability to troubleshoot on factory floor and collaborate across teams.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and support industrial automation and control systems.
- Improve equipment reliability, performance, and uptime.
- Support, develop, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and related tech.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement permanent solutions.
- Support equipment upgrades and capital projects.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
