Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is recruiting an Automation Technician for our Champaign facility. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing advanced automated systems and robotics in a logistics warehouse environment, with 40-hour weeks and overtime as needed.

The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and optimize systems, mentor team members, and support safety and environmental standards. Strong experience with automation and building control systems is required.

Qualifications

Experience in facilities maintenance in a logistics warehouse or industrial setting.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
Familiarity with building automation and control systems and industrial machinery.
Proficient with hand and power tools and diagnostic instruments.
Adherence to safety standards including OSHA.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on robotic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
Install, calibrate, and repair complex equipment such as conveyors and control systems.
Lead preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and ensure optimal operation.
Conduct inspections and ensure safety compliance; address issues before they affect operations.
Mentor maintenance team members and support maintenance projects.
Manage inventory and procure maintenance parts; document activities in E-Maintenance.
