Job summary

PDS in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Automation Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, integration, and commissioning of substation automation projects across the United States, with remote work supported by 80-100% travel. This role emphasizes hands-on testing of SCADA/RTU/HMI systems and IEC 61850 environments.

You will perform FAT/SAT, configure SCADA and RTU applications, troubleshoot IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus, and collaborate with customers and project teams to ensure successful on-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience commissioning substation automation systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and effective communication.

About the Role

Seeking an Automation Commissioning Engineer with experience in substation automation, SCADA systems, and IEC 61850 environments. This role is responsible for testing, integration, and commissioning activities at utility and industrial project sites across the U.S. Candidates must be comfortable traveling extensively and supporting on-site deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform FAT and SAT testing for substation automation systems.

• Test and troubleshoot IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and related communication protocols.
• Support protection and control system integration.

Required Qualifications
