Job summary

Hitachi Energy Raleigh, NC is seeking a Protection & Control Commissioning Engineer to lead on-site testing and commissioning of IEDs and protection systems for substations.

You will integrate IEDs with MicroSCADA, validate IEC 61850 configurations, coordinate with customers, and document results while ensuring safety and project timelines. Willingness to travel within the assigned zone is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in field testing and commissioning of protection and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional and acceptance testing of IEDs according to IEC 61850 standards.
• Configure relay settings and communication parameters.
• Integrate IEDs with MicroSCADA systems.
• Validate SCL files (ICD, CID, SCD) and ensure GOOSE/MMS communication.
• Set up and test Ethernet switches, VLANs, and redundancy (PRP/HSR).
• Document test results and NCRs, tracking corrective actions.
