About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting substation commissioning and protection & control (P&C) systems across utility-scale projects. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in relay testing, substation commissioning, and medium/high voltage equipment. You’ll be part of a team that values safety, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on testing and commissioning of protection and control systems in substations.
- Operate and troubleshoot medium/high voltage equipment using specialized tools.
- Conduct functional and scheme testing of electromechanical and microprocessor relays.
- Document test results and ensure systems meet operational and safety standards.
- Travel to various field sites to support commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Maintain accurate commissioning documentation and provide progress updates.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in substation commissioning, relay testing, or utility fieldwork.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, protection schemes, and high-voltage safety.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as Omicron, Doble, Megger, or similar.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technology degree.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays.
- Exposure to IEC 61850 protocols, microprocessor relay software (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista).
- Prior experience with data center, utility, or mission-critical infrastructure commissioning.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurability standards.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
