Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Raleigh, NC is seeking an experienced Commissioning & Testing Engineer to perform FAT/SAT for substation automation systems. You will configure SCADA, test HMI interfaces and RTU logic, and verify IEC 61850 communication. Travel to sites for on‑site commissioning is expected.

The role requires 3–7 years in commissioning, hands-on MicroSCADA experience, and strong troubleshooting and cybersecurity knowledge to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–7 years of commissioning substation automation experience.
• Hands-on experience with Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA and IEC 61850 configuration.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, protocols, and networking.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform FAT and SAT for substation automation systems.
• Configure and test SCADA systems, HMI interfaces, and RTU logic.
• Validate communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, GOOSE) and interoperability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning and start-up.
• Prepare commissioning plans and procedures, and execute tests.
