Job summary

CarMax Amherst is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist I to perform essential diagnostic, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs on customer and internal vehicles. You will ensure safety and quality, deliver exceptional service, and follow CarMax principles as you grow your career.

The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle state inspections when required, and maintain high standards of workspace organization and safety. ASE certifications are preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately for records.
• Ability to perform accurate diagnostics and repairs.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays; able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs on vehicle systems.
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and complete state inspections when required.
• Manage repair orders with accurate labor, parts, and billing documentation.
• Utilize CarMax proprietary software and diagnostic tools.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace following 5S standards and safety protocols.
• Provide leadership and support to associates and managers across the store.
