Job summary

CarMax is hiring an Auto Repair Specialist I in Mays Landing, NJ. You will diagnose, repair, and cosmetically restore vehicles to CarMax quality standards while delivering excellent customer service.

The role blends office and outdoor work, with rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. You'll use CarMax software to manage repair orders and ensure accurate labor, parts, and billing documentation, all within a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately for record-keeping.
• Strong multitasking skills to perform duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
• Physical capability to perform work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and extensive standing/walking.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, including active listening and telephone etiquette.
• Maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2).

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics and complete mechanical and cosmetic repairs on all vehicle systems
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and complete state inspections when required
• Manage repair orders, ensuring accuracy in labor, parts, and billing documentation
• Utilize proprietary and universal software systems
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace following CarMax 5S standards and safety protocols
• Provide leadership and functional expertise to support associates and managers across the store
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
