First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Claims Call Center Specialist to join our Claims team in a fast-paced environment. You will act as the first point of contact for insureds, claimants, attorneys, carriers, and other parties, gathering information and guiding them through the claims process with independence and accuracy.

The role requires attention to detail, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills to support claims adjusters and the broader department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in insurance, claims, or a high-volume call center preferred.
• Strong verbal communication and phone skills.
• Ability to handle escalated customer interactions professionally.
• Data entry and typing at least 30 WPM.
• Proficiency with PC applications and multitasking across systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, knowledgeable, and empathetic service to insureds, claimants, attorneys, carriers, and other callers.
• Receive and document initial reports of accidents and losses accurately and efficiently.
• Gather detailed loss information and ensure claim documentation is complete and accurate.
• Review policy information and recognize potential coverage concerns for referral.
• Guide customers through the claims process and respond to a variety of questions.
• Refer insureds and claimants for estimates when appropriate.
• Route claims and calls to the appropriate claims unit based on loss circumstances.
• Assist adjusters with timely information and support to customers.
• Apply insurance terminology, policies, coverage, and claims procedures.
• Handle challenging or escalated interactions professionally.
• Maintain productivity, quality, and customer service standards while managing call volume.
• Process tow bills, order police reports, mail claim payments, and complete other administrative responsibilities.
