Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking an entry to mid level body shop prep technician to prepare properly repaired and primed panels for refinish coats. You will ensure sand scratches and visible imperfections are removed in line with Manheim's SOP before the refinishing step.

Responsibilities include inspecting repairs, masking adjacent panels, preparing panels for finish, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Experience in body shop prep is preferred; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of body shop and/or prepping experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
• Regularly stand, walk, reach, talk and hear; physically able to lift 1-15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect repairs and primed panels for proper body repairs and primer application per SOP.
• Review incomplete or improper repairs with management before proceeding.
• Mask/protect adjacent panels from scratches before final sanding.
• Prepare repaired and primed panels for final finish application with abrasives and tools.
• Avoid over-sanding or under-sanding to ensure a quality finish.
