Job summary

West Valley School District #363 is seeking a Paraeducator - Autism to provide dedicated 1-to-1 support for a student at Orchard Center Elementary. The role emphasizes evidence-based practices within an MTSS framework, with ongoing training and regular progress reviews in collaboration with teachers, therapists, and families.

The position requires flexibility, dependable attendance, and ability to assist with mobility and classroom routines using school technology.

Qualifications

• Computer experience, specifically working with the Google Suite preferred.
• Previous experience working with autistic and/or behavior-involved students.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive, professional relationships with students which build trust and confidence.
• Provide secondary instructional support in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher.
• Work with all students, individually or in small/large groups, to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Assist with theclassroomset-up and prepare materials for specialized instructional activities.
• Observes and utilizes techniques and strategies used by special education teacher(s) and therapist(s).
• Assists in data collection as prescribed by the school-based team based upon IEP goals.
• Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
• Follow appropriate protocols when reporting student incidents/behavior to the immediate supervisor.
• Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
• Participate in professional development and training programs, as assigned.
• Collaborate withthe classroom teacher regarding student assessments linked to learning standards.
• Assists students with physical needs such as toileting, feeding, mobility, and communication.
• Demonstrateregular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
