Job summary

Gersh Autism's Academy for Young Minds in Queens is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher to join state-of-the-art classrooms. The role supports teachers under supervision of Head Teacher and BCBA, delivering individualized curricular activities and monitoring progress with data collection.

Ideal candidates have experience teaching special education (ABA preferred), knowledge of ASD, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with special needs (ABA preferred).
• Understanding of ASD and other developmental disabilities.
• Familiarity with NYS Common Core Standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Computer proficiency (data entry, word processing).

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher using ABA or other approaches prioritizing student needs.
• Assist in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual students.
• Collect data on programs and progress toward goals.
• Maintain accurate attendance and student records.
• Collaborate with speech, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other team members.
• Promote student health, safety, and social interaction.
• Participate in training, meetings, and school events.
• Ensure classroom cleanliness and safety during activities.
