Job summary

Gersh Autism’s Academy for Young Minds (AYM) in Long Island City, Queens, is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher for a 12-month, full-time role serving students with autism aged 5–15 in small classroom settings.

Under supervision of the Head Teacher and the BCBA, you will implement individualized curricula, collect progress data, and support student learning toward goals with ABA-based practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching special education students, preferably with ABA.
• Understanding of needs of students with autism spectrum disorders.
• Knowledge of NYS Common Core Standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Computer proficiency (e.g., data base, word processing).

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and implement individualized curricular activities under supervision.
• Support student learning through data collection on programs and progress toward goals.
