Job summary

Amarillo ISD seeks a dedicated instructional aide to support students with disabilities in Autism ACC, ECSE, BASE, and inclusion settings. You will assist in implementing classroom programs, behavior management, and self-help activities under supervision.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, parents, and staff, with travel between district locations as needed and adherence to district safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or 48 college credit hours preferred.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate is required.
• Must meet the district's academic assessment requirements under ESSA.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the classroom teacher and campus staff to support students.
• Assist students with disabilities in daily activities, including self-help and personal care.
• Help transfer students to and from wheelchairs and position students as needed.
• Provide safety and comfort support during meals, restroom breaks and routines.
• Assist in developing instructional materials and maintaining student files.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and recess to ensure safety.
