Job summary

Oscar Health is seeking a Sr. Analyst, Authorization Services Design & Configuration in Tempe, AZ.

You will architect medical management workflows within the Utilization Management system, translating complex requirements into automated logic and guiding cross-functional teams on how configurations impact care decisions. You will report to the Associate Director, UM Optimization, and work on a hybrid schedule with three days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in system/configuration or rules management.
• 2+ years in a technical/operational role with root-cause analysis and data troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (vlookups, pivot tables, data manipulation).
• Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications for systems and workflows.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex logic to non-technical partners.
• 1+ year of healthcare payer/insurance operations experience.
• 2+ years of SQL, BigQuery or similar database languages.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain authorization workflows, rulesets, and automations in the UM platform.
• Translate business requirements into precise technical specifications and ensure accurate implementation.
• Investigate escalations with root-cause analysis and identify configuration gaps.
• Highlight friction points in authorization processes and document automation opportunities.
• As UM system SME, educate cross-functional teams on configurations and operations.
• Develop and execute testing protocols to validate system behavior and configurations.
• Manage caseloads and dashboard-driven project tasks with clear documentation.
