Job summary

Clark Schaefer Strategic HR is seeking an Audit Senior in Columbus, OH to lead engagements from planning to completion, build trusted client relationships, and mentor engagement staff within a Not-for-Profit and Affordable Housing focused practice.

You will work with Managers, Senior Managers, and Shareholders, manage multiple engagements, and ensure high-quality audits under U.S. GAAP while delivering strong client service.

Qualifications

• Public accounting audit experience with a solid foundation in financial statement audits.
• Hands-on experience with audit planning, risk assessment, workpapers, and documentation.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and audit standards.
• Experience serving Not-for-Profit and Affordable Housing sectors (preferred).
• CPA certification or active progress toward certification is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from planning through completion, managing scope and client expectations.
• Develop trusted client relationships and serve as a resource for business, audit, compliance, and financial reporting needs.
• Coach and develop staff while guiding engagement teams.
• Address audit and compliance matters in Not-for-Profit and Affordable Housing sectors.
• Prepare and review workpapers in compliance with GAAP and firm standards.
• Support planning, risk assessment, testing, documentation, and engagement execution.
• Manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines with strong client service.
• Collaborate with Managers, Senior Managers, and Shareholders to gain leadership exposure.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal teams to keep engagements moving.
