The Director acts as the liaison among Partners, clients, and staff, managing multiple engagements, staffing, and workflow while developing staff and pursuing new business opportunities. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting with a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position.
• Significant experience auditing state and local governments.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Holds a current and valid CPA license.
• Ability to travel to client and firm office locations.
• Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
• Experience conducting audits under GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.
• Maintains compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and builds and maintains client relationships.
• Assumes the role of engagement partner or reports to the engagement partner on engagements.
• Signs attest opinions as a representative of the firm when assigned the engagement partner role.
• Oversees all phases of engagements to ensure client deliverables comply with accounting framework and firm policy.
• Keeps the engagement Partner apprised of important developments and issues and implements solutions.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for governmental sector.
• Oversees billing and collections by engagement teams per policy.
• Supervises staff and provides on-the-job training; reviews work papers and reports.
• Participates in staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Involved in recruitment and interviews Assurance and Advisory candidates.
• Represents the firm in business development and generates new business contacts and referrals.
• Leads prospective client communications, fee estimates, and first meetings.
• Ensures firm policies and procedures are followed.
