NPR is seeking an Audience Lifecycle Software Engineering Manager to lead a collaborative team building data warehouse, data pipelines, BI, and personalization tools. You will work with Product, Design, Data, and Editorial to set priorities, design new features, and improve existing applications while championing team health and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience directly managing, mentoring, or leading data engineers within an agile organization.
• Experience shipping robust code for at least one large-scale data application or service.
• Experience collaborating within cross-functional Agile/Scrum product teams.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and data infrastructure.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python; strong Git version control experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Software Engineers, mentoring career growth and psychological safety.
• Drive recruitment, onboarding, and structured training for engineering staff.
• Collaborate with product, UX, data, and editorial teams throughout product lifecycle.
• Oversee Agile planning, sprints, and retrospectives to deliver projects on time.
• Review designs and code to maintain architecture, quality, and security standards.
• Identify workflow improvements and automate repetitive tasks to speed delivery.
• Coordinate production incident response and vendor/contributor management.
• Communicate progress and trade-offs to stakeholders clearly.
