MULU Corp is a woman-owned management and technology consulting firm headquartered in Alexandria, VA. We deliver technology-forward solutions, including AI/ML and agentic workflows, to federal and mission-driven organizations.
Role Overview
MULU is hiring an Atlassian Platform & ITSM Engineer to support an enterprise Atlassian environment behind software-lifecycle and IT service management work for government clients.
This is a hands-on, player-coach role. You'll move from stakeholder conversation to configuration, testing, release, and user support, owning each enhancement from intake to adoption. You'll know when to configure, automate, integrate, elevate, or simplify, rather than defaulting to customization. The role reports to MULU management, with day-to-day direction from the client's team lead.
Responsibilities
Solution Delivery & Requirements
- Partner with Government and contractor users to map business processes, pain points, and platform requirements.
- Translate needs into process flows, solution options, timelines, risks, dependencies, and decision points.
- Own enhancements and process improvements from intake through design, configuration, testing, release, and closure.
- Conduct gap analyses and deliver concise recommendations grounded in user value, feasibility, and governance.
Platform Administration
- Configure and maintain Jira, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Confluence: workflows, request types, fields, screens, schemes, permissions, automations, and dashboards.
- Administer user access using role-based, least-privilege principles.
- Execute and validate changes across sandbox and production with disciplined verification and rollback.
- Maintain configuration baselines and retire obsolete or duplicative configurations.
ITSM Operations & Integrations
- Provide Tier 1/2 support for service requests, access issues, and defects; elevate to vendors and Tier-3 support with complete research packages.
- Support incident and problem management: reproduce issues, document evidence, track corrective actions, and communicate status.
- Plan and support releases, upgrades, patches, and maintenance with minimal user disruption.
- Build integrations, automations, queries, and dashboards using Jira Automation, REST APIs, and ScriptRunner to cut manual work and surface operational insight.
Adoption & Knowledge Continuity
- Create and maintain SOPs, job aids, and configuration documentation that keep support repeatable and auditable.
- Deliver training and demonstrations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Cross-train teammates and document current-state configurations to support transitions and eliminate single points of failure.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in enterprise platform engineering or administration, ITSM, SDLC tooling, business/process analysis, or technical delivery.
- Hands-on Jira and/or JSM administration in an enterprise environment, including workflows, schemes, permissions, automations, and user access.
- Experience supporting Confluence and integrating Atlassian tools with other enterprise systems.
- Working knowledge of ITSM practices: service request, incident, problem, change, release, and configuration management.
- Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, map processes, analyze gaps, and carry changes through implementation and adoption.
- Experience in a controlled production environment with disciplined testing, documentation, access control, and change management.
- Federal, DoD, or other highly regulated technology experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (may be required for administrative access).
- Atlassian administration certification or advanced Jira/JSM training; Atlassian Data Center experience.
- Experience with REST APIs, ScriptRunner, and Atlassian Marketplace apps.
- ITIL, Agile/SAFe, PMP/CAPM, or comparable service-management or delivery certification.
- Experience migrating legacy ALM/ITSM environments, such as IBM Jazz / Engineering Lifecycle Management, to Atlassian.
- Familiarity with LLM platforms such as Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI ChatGPT, and xAI Grok for documentation, analysis, and automation.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
