Job summary

City of Golden is seeking a Recreation Coordinator - Athletics to coordinate and supervise youth and adult athletic programs, rentals, leagues, and events. You will oversee facilities, staffing, scheduling, and safety, while supporting budget and purchasing within policy guidelines.

The role requires coordinating with partners to promote programming, ensuring a welcoming environment, and enforcing department policies with strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Administration, Physical Education, or related field preferred.
• 1 year athletic programming experience required; 3 years experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record; First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) and CPRP certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, develop, organize, promote, implement, and evaluate athletic programs to meet city/department goals.
• Directly manage rental and permitting processes for athletic facilities, fields, courts, and amenities.
• Oversee assigned athletic facilities including staffing, scheduling, service delivery, rental administration, and safety.
• Support budget development and purchase equipment, uniforms, and other materials within budget constraints.
• Coordinate with other departments, external agencies, schools, and partners to market programs and share resources.
• Support implementation of contracted services and programs.
• Conduct safety inspections to maintain a safe environment for participants.
• Enforce department policies and provide excellent customer service.
• Prepare and coordinate marketing and promotional materials.
• Assist supervisor with data collection and analysis to inform program health and priorities.
• May support athletic turf and facility maintenance.
