Job summary

King George Parks & Recreation is seeking an Athletics Coordinator to lead and develop the County's sports programs and athletic activities. You will plan, coordinate, and implement diverse leagues, manage facilities, and engage with the community to deliver quality recreational experiences for participants of all ages.

The role requires strong leadership, program management skills, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field.
• Experience supervising recreation programs and staff.
• Strong knowledge of sports rules, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and recreation management software.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Valid Virginia driver's license.
• Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement comprehensive athletic programs and leagues
• Coordinate field and facility setup, maintenance, and scheduling
• Manage equipment inventory and distribution
• Recruit, train, and supervise coaches, officials, scorers, and support staff
• Collaborate with schools, youth associations, and community groups
• Assist with budget preparation and program fee assessments
• Develop and maintain program documentation, including rosters and registration records
• Create engaging content for social media and marketing materials
• Ensure proper safety protocols and program standards are maintained
