Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Intercollegiate Athletics department is seeking an Assistant Business Manager to oversee budget management, travel, procure-to-pay, and related financial operations on campus.

This exempt, on-site role requires collaboration with coaches, administrators and campus partners to ensure sound fiscal management, compliant procurement, and accurate reporting across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Demonstrated experience with budget preparation, financial reporting, or related fiscal administration.
• Proficiency with financial/ERP systems and Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across staff, coaches, administration, and campus partners and apply sound judgment to achieve positive outcomes.
• Professional demeanor and the ability to represent the University of Texas and the Athletics Department professionally under a range of circumstances.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Budget Management – Prepare, analyze and narrate the on-going financial position of assigned Sport Programs and Departments to aid in their sound fiscal management.
• Procurement, Contracting & Payments – Provide independent review of goods and services requests, solicit multiple proposals from vendors, and prepare documentation in line with procedures.
• Support centralized processes to receive invoices, ensure accurate receipt of goods and services, secure approvals, and process payment promptly.
• Travel Management & Expense Reconciliations – Administer cash advances, audit and approve expenses, coordinate with travel vendors, and support a robust travel program.
• Financial Aid – Administer financial aid agreements and related transactions to fund tuition and housing for student-athletes.
• Game & Event Support – Assist Athletics Department operations at home events and recruiting events.
• Required Reporting – Ensure accuracy of reporting requirements including specific financial reports for oversight boards.
