Job summary

The University of South Alabama is seeking an Athletic Field Technician II to maintain and repair athletic fields and related facilities on the Main Campus in Mobile, AL. You will operate specialized mowing equipment, assist with irrigation, and prepare surfaces to meet sport specifications.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience maintaining athletic fields.
Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable for university insurance.
Ornamental and Turf Pest Control license or ability to obtain within six months.
Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain athletic fields and facilities: mowing, edging, raking, repairs.
Prepare surfaces and install/repair irrigation systems.
Operate riding mower and reel-type equipment, trimmer, blower, edger, spreader, sprayer.
Maintain equipment and keep facilities clean.
Layout fields and prepare for painting/marking per sport specs.
Analyze turf issues (disease, insects, weeds, soil).
Ensure NCAA and Sun Belt regulations compliance.
Apply chemicals and fertilizers to playing surfaces.
Move equipment and supplies up to 100 lbs.
Work nights/weekends for events as required.
Travel to sites using university vehicle.
Attend work regularly and comply with overtime as needed.
