Job summary

The University of South Alabama is seeking an Athletic Field Technician I to support maintenance of athletic fields and facilities on the Main Campus in Mobile, AL. A high school diploma or equivalent, one year of groundskeeping experience, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Responsibilities include mowing, edging, painting fields to sport specifications, operating tractor and lawn equipment, maintaining tools and facilities, and assisting with events including nights and weekends.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.

• Operates equipment such as tractor, riding lawn mower to include reel-type multiple-gang equipment, line trimmer, blower, edger, spreader, sprayer, and other equipment required for proper field maintenance.
• Assists in maintaining equipment and tools and keeping facilities clean.
• Paints playing fields according to sport specifications.
• Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Works related events which will require nights and weekends.
• Uses a university vehicle to travel to and from work sites.
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work schedule as defined and additional overtime hours as required.
• Related duties as required.
