Job summary

The University of South Alabama's Grounds department on Main Campus in Mobile, AL, is hiring three Groundskeeper IIs. You will mow, edge, prune, mulch, and maintain grounds and irrigation while operating a range of equipment. Working Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., you’ll help keep campus landscapes in top condition. Minimum qualifications include one year of groundskeeping or related experience and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Qualifications

• Experience in groundskeeping or related field.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Mows and edges lawns.
• Removes grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, weeds, trash and debris from lawns and landscape areas.
• Trims, prunes, and mulches trees, shrubs and flowers.
• Polices grounds and collects, loads, and hauls away trash.
• Operates irrigation water and chemicals to lawns, trees, flowers, and shrubs as needed.
• Digs holes and plants flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Maintains and calibrates equipment as required.
• Installs and repairs irrigation systems as needed.
• Regular and prompt attendance and ability to work schedule defined.
