Job summary

The University of South Alabama's Maintenance Department is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee electricians, painters, plumbers, and other trades staff, ensuring maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment across campus.

The role requires supervisory experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver's license. The position is full-time and located at the Main Campus, with standard weekday hours and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of general building maintenance and repair experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage for USA.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, supervises, and inspects the work of electricians, painters, plumbers, maintenance mechanics, roofers and all other trades personnel, technicians and contractors in maintenance and repair of buildings and installation of equipment.
• Makes requisitions and/or purchases of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Keeps records and manages employees' time, safety training, and creates reports as required.
• Assists with hiring, disciplining, and evaluating personnel.
• Assists with work assignments using applicable hand and power tools.
• Receives work orders, clarifies tasks, assigns and dispatches trades, tracks progress, attaches documents, enters data and closes work orders.
• Manages recyclable universal waste and employee safety training.
• Serves as essential personnel during University closings.
• Operates a motor vehicle to travel to work sites or transport materials and tools.
• Maintains regular and prompt attendance and works overtime as required.
• Performs related duties as required.
