Job summary

American University in Washington, DC, is seeking an Athletic Operations Manager to lead on-site event setup, execution, and breakdown for home athletic events and selected external events. You will coordinate with campus partners, supervise student and part-time staff, and ensure facility readiness, security, and concessions support.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Sports/Event Management and 1–3 years of related experience, with evening/weekend hours and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or Event Management is required.
• Experience coordinating home athletic events and student staff is preferred.
• Strong time management and customer service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate on-site event preparation for home athletic events, including setup, execution, and breakdown.
• Manage home athletic events for assigned varsity programs, including all aspects of event logistics.
• Train and supervise student and part-time staff for daily facility maintenance and event tasks.
• Maintain outdoor athletic facilities and coordinate with Grounds Crew for field readiness.
• Handle security needs and access control for events and facilities.
• Perform keys/access management, inspections, housekeeping requests, and concessions coordination.
