Sinclair Community College's Astronomy Department invites applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach astronomy courses in Ohio. The starting pay is 1,046 USD per credit hour assigned to teach.

• Master's degree in astronomy or physics.
• 1–2 years of experience teaching astronomy in different modalities.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without pending sponsorship.

• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections.
• Use effective teaching and learning strategies; employ instructional technology when appropriate.
• Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Support classroom and online student success.
• Evaluate and return student work promptly; maintain records.
• Submit final grade rosters by deadlines; maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Adjunct faculty cannot teach more than 12 credit hours per semester.

The Sinclair Astronomy Department offers students an out-of-this-world opportunity to explore the universe and understand our place in it. Using the laws of physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, astronomers study the Earth as a planet and everything beyond its atmosphere. The department prepares students with broad problem-solving skills applicable to careers in education, research, industry, and public outreach.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
