Job summary

BDO USA is seeking an Assurance Manager to supervise and direct audit engagements, ensuring profitability through effective billings and collections. The role includes advising on GAAP/GAAS, communicating with clients, and leading staff through planning, field work, and wrap-up phases.

The ideal candidate has a US CPA, 5+ years of audit experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. This is a senior role focused on client relationships, risk assessment, and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferred
• Master's degree in Accountancy, preferred
• Five (5) or more years of prior relevant audit experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required
• Active licensed US CPA, recognized active International Equivalent or unique qualification as defined by BDO's Assurance Licensing Policy, required
• If active international equivalent or unique qualifications, required to obtain an active US CPA license within approved timeframe as defined by firm licensing requirements
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
• Sound GAAP and GAAS knowledge
• Familiarity with SEC and PCAOB reporting rules
• Client development/relationship-building skills
• Executive presence and strong communication skills
• Engagement profitability including billings and collections

Responsibilities

• Supervise the work of the audit team and review workpapers and conclusions onsite during audit field work
• Review SEC filings, including MD&A, financial statements, and disclosures for form, content, completeness, and accuracy
• Apply knowledge of GAAP/GAAS and professional standards to client transactions and document understanding
• Provide on-the-job training to engagement staff during audit field work
• Plan the audit process and oversee execution of procedures with quality and efficiency
