Job summary

Shady Canyon Golf Club Inc. is seeking an assistant/manager to support daily golf operations in Irvine, CA. You will help manage play, protect assets, assist merchandising, tournaments, instruction and deliver world-class service to members and guests.

The role requires PGA membership completion and active classification, plus responsibility for supervising staff, budgeting, and promoting club activities. Strong English communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in the golf industry
• High School diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
• Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written

Responsibilities

• Assist with management of daily golf operations including tracking play and asset protection
• Assist merchandising, tournaments, golf instruction and delivering world-class service
• Coordinate guest check-in and fee collection with the starter
• Provide golf instruction if qualified and assist members with instruction
• Supervise and train golf shop staff under Head Professional and Director of Golf
• Assist in purchasing, inventory, promotion and sales of merchandise
• Promote all club activities and services; manage handicap program
• Assist in planning and budgeting for golf operations and tournament management
• Maintain professional image and high level of organization; attention to detail
• Be able to operate a computer, copier and fax; stand for an eight-hour shift

Job description

The position will assist with the management of daily golf operations including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, assisting with the merchandising functions, assisting with managing tournaments, golf instruction and providing world class service to ensure an exceptional golf experience.Complete the requirements of the PGA membership and maintain an active classification.Assist in the supervision and management of the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner.Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons.Control and manage all daily play with regards to ensuring guest check-in, fee collection in coordination with the starter.If qualified, provide golf instruction and assist members with instruction.Supervise, and train new golf shop personnel as directed by the Head Professional and Director of Golf.Assist in the purchasing, receipt, displaying, inventory, control promotion and sales of merchandise.Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.Be informed on and promote all club activities and services.Manage the handicap program.Assist in the planning and budgeting for the golf operations.Assist in the managing of all tournaments and outings.Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the company as requested by the supervisor.Aptitude to effectively deal with the wants and needs of all members and guests.Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with members and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and to resolve problems.Have a broad knowledge of the golf business with regards to the golf operations.Capacity to operate and use a computer, photocopy machine, and a fax machine.Ability to stand continuously in order to perform essential job functions for an eight-plus hour shift.Must be highly organized and a high level of attention to detail.A minimum of 2 years experience with working in the golf industry.High School graduate or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
