As we continue to scale, we are seeking a smart, detail-oriented Assistant Controller who can manage our day-to-day fund finance and eventually evolve into the Head of Accounting / CFO.

Position Overview

The Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of our venture capital funds and family office entities. You will handle comprehensive fund accounting responsibilities, manage external and internal bookkeepers, ensure seamless capital operations, and serve as a key point of contact for tax compliance. This is a high-visibility role with a direct, earned pathway to the firm's top financial seat.

Key Responsibilities

• Fund Accounting & Valuations: Lead the accounting operations for VC funds and family office structures. Oversee portfolio company valuations, net asset value (NAV) calculations, and financial reporting.
• Capital Operations: Manage the end-to-end process for capital calls, distributions, and investor subscription materials.
• Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee and approve wire transfers, monitor liquidity, and maintain rigorous internal controls over cash management.
• Team Management: Directly manage and mentor internal and external bookkeepers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all ledgers.
• Tax & Audit Coordination: Coordinate closely with external CPA firms and tax advisors for the timely preparation of K-1s, tax returns, and annual fund audits.
• Strategic Growth: Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives as the role scales, preparing to assume Head of Accounting and CFO-level responsibilities over time.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 7 to 12 years of progressive accounting experience, with a heavy foundation rooted in private equity (PE) or venture capital (VC) fund accounting.
• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA certification is strongly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with fund structures, partnership accounting, waterfall distributions, and modern accounting software.
• Attributes: Exceptionally smart, analytical, and highly detail-oriented. Must possess the communication skills required to interact with high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors.
