Job summary

UrgentVet Hospitals in Chesapeake is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join our urgent care team. The role focuses on after-hours care for canine and feline patients in a flexible, swing/second-shift schedule within a modern, paperless clinic.

The practice operates in the Virginia Beach area with a strong technical team, offering cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and IDEXX in-house labs to support efficient care and high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college or equivalent
• Active license to practice in Virginia or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

• Serve patients and clients with a relationship-based approach
• Collaborate and engage with the clinical team and leadership
• Grow relationships within the practice and the Virginia Beach community
• Encourage the growth of support staff members through our internal LevelUp training program
• Manage a varying caseload, including surgeries and appointments during our open hours

Education

DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program)

Active license in good standing to practice in the state in which candidate will be employed (or the ability to obtain a license in that state)

Description

UrgentVet bridges the gap between daytime general practice and emergency/overnight care in the Virginia Beach, Virginia area. We offer after-hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees. Our single-doctor shifts offer care for common urgent cases, including wound management, ear infections, vomiting/diarrhea, and euthanasia. Each of our paperless clinics is specially designed to deliver efficient care and equipped with cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment.
