Job summary

Pennoni Associates is seeking an Associate Traffic Engineer to join our Tampa or Clearwater, FL office. The role involves assisting on highway projects, leading traffic studies, and developing TMPs with guidance from senior staff.

The candidate should have a civil engineering background with 4–8 years of experience, proficiency with traffic software, and the ability to work with FDOT and public sector clients. PE licensure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 4–8 years of work experience in traffic engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Microstation, Synchro/SimTraffic, and Highway Capacity Software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with complex traffic engineering tasks on highway and bridge projects.
• Lead and develop traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Sign and pavement marking design.
• Assist with maintenance of traffic schemes, construction phasing and traffic control plans.
• Assist with TMPs and Traffic Impact Studies.
• ADA design and curb ramp design.
• FDOT access management and complete streets initiatives.
• Support development of project cost estimates and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff (e.g., CADD).
• Work with traffic software and FDOT/public sector clients.

Pennoni Associates Is Currently Seeking An Associate Traffic Engineer To Work In Either Our Tampa Or Clearwater, FL Office With Experience Consistent, But Not Limited To.

• Assisting with complex traffic engineering tasks with other staff on highway and bridge projects.
• Leading and developing traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Signing and Pavement Marking design
• Assisting with development of Maintenance of Traffic schemes, Construction Phasing and Traffic Control Plans
• Assisting with development of Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS)
• ADA Design and Curb Ramp Design
• FDOT Access Management, TSM&O and Complete Streets Initiatives
• Assisting with the development of project Cost Estimates and Specifications.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to technical staff (e.g., CADD).
• Experience with traffic-related software packages (Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA)
• Experience with FDOT and similar public sector clients (Counties, Cities, Townships)
• Developing client relationships with Public and Private Clients.

Required Attributes

• Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, Master’s degree a plus
• Minimum years of work experience: 4-8 years
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Suite; Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with InRoads and AutoCAD a plus
• Construction consultation and utility coordination experience a plus
• Licenses: PE, (PTOE desirable)
