Job summary

Pennoni Associates in Tampa or Clearwater, FL is seeking an Associate Traffic Engineer to join our traffic team. This role supports complex highway and bridge projects, leads traffic studies, and helps develop TMPs, TIS, and related design tasks.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred), 4–8 years of experience, and hands-on experience with Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4–8 years of work experience; registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with complex traffic engineering tasks with other staff on highway and bridge projects.
• Leading and developing traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Signing and Pavement Marking design
• Assisting with development of Maintenance of Traffic schemes, Construction Phasing and Traffic Control Plans
• Assisting with development of Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS)
• ADA Design and Curb Ramp Design
• FDOT Access Management, TSM&O and Complete Streets Initiatives
• Assisting with development of project Cost Estimates and Specifications.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to technical staff (e.g., CADD).
• Experience with traffic-related software packages (Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA)
• Experience with FDOT and similar public sector clients (Counties, Cities, Townships)
• Developing client relationships with Public and Private Clients.

• Assisting with complex traffic engineering tasks with other staff on highway and bridge projects.
• Leading and developing traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.

Required Attributes:

• Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, Master’s degree a plus
• Minimum years of work experience: 4-8 years
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Suite; Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience with InRoads and AutoCAD a plus
• Construction consultation and utility coordination experience a plus
• Licenses: PE, (PTOE desirable)
