Job summary

Pennoni in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a full-time Staff Traffic Engineer to join our transportation practice. The role involves technical analysis, design, and traffic engineering for diverse infrastructure projects, with opportunities to lead studies and mentor junior staff.

The successful candidate will hold a BS in Civil Engineering with a transportation concentration and a Professional Engineer license, and will collaborate across teams while delivering high-quality, compliant designs.

Qualifications

• BS Civil Engineering with a Transportation concentration required.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• PTOE certification preferred but not required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Team player who can work independently and on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analysis, design, and traffic engineering for transportation, highway, and land development projects.
• Lead and review traffic impact studies, permits, signal designs, PS&E packages, and related reports.
• May oversee work of junior engineers and technical staff.
• Communicate and collaborate with design teams and clients.
• Assist project managers with proposals, scope of works, and cost estimates.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by senior leadership.

Job description

Pennoni currently has an opening in our Philadelphia, PA office for a full-time Staff Traffic Engineer with experience consistent with, but not limited to:

Job Responsibilities

• Perform technical analysis, design, and traffic engineering tasks for a wide range of transportation infrastructure, highway, and land development projects.
• Lead, develop, assist with, and review traffic impact studies, highway occupancy permits, specifications, signal design and plans, maintenance and protection of traffic and signing plans, PS&E packages, and reports.
• May oversee work of junior engineers and technical staff.
• Communicate and collaborate with design teams and clients.
• Assist project managers in the development of proposals, scope of works, fee, and cost estimates.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by senior leadership and overall business needs.

Additional Required Attributes

• Degree Required: BS Civil Engineering - with a Transportation Engineering concentration
• Licenses required: Professional Engineer

Preferred Attributes

• PTOE certification preferred but not required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Team player with the ability to work independently and with others on multiple projects to meet multiple deadlines.
• Working knowledge of appropriate Federal Highway Administration, AASHTO, PennDOT, and other relevant guidelines, including the MUTCD
