Job summary

YMCA is seeking an Associate Teacher in Keene, NH to support youth development and community engagement through a safe, welcoming classroom environment. You will help implement the program curriculum and foster YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Under supervision, you will build relationships with members and parents, supervise children, assist with lesson planning, and contribute to family nights and staff training (18 hours/year).

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by childcare licensing.
• At least 18 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Health form completed within 30 days of hire date.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Three+ years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
• Dependable and build consistency and stability in the classroom for the children in your care.
• Implements of curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Assists with designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Conducts parent conferences with the Lead Teacher and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year).
• Fulfills any functions appointed by the YMCA administration.
